Direct Energy signs wind energy supply agreement Print E-mail
Wednesday, 28 June 2006
Direct Energy has signed a five-year, exclusive agreement with Airtricity Inc., an international renewable energy company founded in Dublin, Ireland.

Direct Energy will purchase all output and Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) from the 90 MW Sand Bluff Wind Farm located 60 miles north of San Angelo, Texas. Airtricity's Sand Bluff Wind Farm is scheduled to achieve commercial operation in the second quarter of 2007. After construction, Airtricity will own and operate the 90 MW facility. This is Direct Energy's second wind power contract in Texas. In June 2005, the company entered into an exclusive, 15-year power purchase agreement for all output from the 120 MW Buffalo Gap Wind Farm located near Abilene, Texas.
