CPUC approves SDG&E wind power contract Print E-mail
Wednesday, 26 April 2006
San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) announced that the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) approved its contract to purchase 205.5MW of electricity from enXco.

The contract calls for the construction of the facility in Southern California, which will begin deliveries in 2007-08. New transmission lines will be needed to gain access to the energy. SDG&E's goal is to supply 20 per cent of its customers' electricity needs from renewable resources like wind, solar and geothermal by 2010. The contract will contribute approximately 3.5 per cent toward meeting the utility's goal. To date, SDG&E has a total of 15.5 per cent under contract for renewable resources by 2010.
