Tuesday, 30 September 2008
Hansen Transmissions International N.V. has announced that it has delivered the first gearbox from its new facility at Karumathampatty, near Coimbatore, India.

Delivery of the first gearbox from the new Indian plant has been achieved in twelve months since the beginning of construction in August 2007. The new facility is expected to be completed on time by 2012 and within the original budget of € 273 million. Hansen reiterates its outlook for the plant in India, which will now continue with the manufacture of gearboxes for a range between 1.5 to 3.0MW wind turbines, with plans to reach full manufacturing capacity in the financial year 2012. When fully commissioned, the total installed capacity will be approximately 2,500 gear units per annum, corresponding to a capacity of 5,000MW per year.
