International Trade Fair for the Wind Power Industry

This year HUSUM WindEnergy, with its accompanying trade symposia, will take place from 9 to 13 September. Having started life in 1989 as a local event with 29 exhibitors, in 2007 the trade fair brought together 640 exhibitors from 30 countries and over 18,000 trade visitors from about 40 nations in the North Frisian coastal town. This year the organisers are expecting around 700 companies, including wind turbine manufacturers, suppliers and service providers from 35 nations, and 20,000 visitors from 40 countries.

This year the offshore sector will be a key subject at HUSUM WindEnergy 2008. 2008 and 2009 are expected to be boom years in the offshore sector in Europe - with planned commissioning of a total of 1,507.5MW on new installations coming on-line. Offshore is therefore a central theme at the upcoming event. A large number of international companies that develop or already commercially operate wind turbines specially developed for offshore application will exhibit their products, projects and specialised services in Husum. Presenting the latest technical and scientific offshore wind advancements is also a main theme at the conference, which is an integral part of the fair.

Windtech International invited the exhibiting companies to tell us what they will have on display during the show, especially their new products. In the article on page 21 you will find a brief overview.
