BARD Engineering commissions Germanischer Lloyd for wind farm Print E-mail
Wednesday, 09 May 2007

80 wind turbines with a nominal capacity of 400 MW are to begin production in 2010, approximately 100 kilometres north of the island of Borkum, this is the plan for the wind farm BARD OFFSHORE I.

The project manager BARD Engineering has now commissioned Germanischer Lloyd with the type approval of wind turbines as well as the project certification of the entire wind farm. The classification society surveys the feasibility of the ship design as well as the energy and habitation platform. The "Marine Warranty Survey" will also be conducted by Germanischer Lloyd. Germanischer Lloyd will examine the type approval of all components of the new equipment according to the principles of the "Guideline for the Certification of Offshore Wind Turbines".
