Identifying Promising Areas for Wind Farm Installation and Energy Prediction
This article describes the development of a computational tool designed to help the electric power utilities in the planning and operation of a system that integrates wind energy into the electric grid. The first use of this tool is to help identify potential areas for locating wind farms, through the cross-referencing of geographical information about absolute wind velocities, hilliness, surface roughness, land use, cartography, population density, location of electric grid and substations, and other sources of electric power generation.
